ISO는 국제 표준화 기구이다.
2021년 6월 ISO/PC 250 위원회에서 개발한 인증시스템이 있다.
바로 ISO 2021 .
ISO20121은 MICE산업에서 발생하는 경제, 사회, 환경적 상황에 미리 대비하고
문제를 최소화하기 위해서 만들어 졌다.
ISO 공식 사이트에따르면 규모에 상관없이 어떤 이벤트 유형에서든 사용될 수 있다고 한다
ISO20121 MICE 지속가능성 인증을 받기위해서는
ISO20121을 준용해 이슈 발굴에서 모니터링 환류까지 P(계획), D(실행), C(점검), A(개선) 운영체계를 확립해야 한다.
매뉴얼 등으로 절차를 문서화하고, 모든 활동 내용과 실적을 ISO20121 인증심사 기관인 한국표준협회에 제출해 인증심사를 의뢰하게 된다.

한편 ISO20121은 두 기관 외에도 정부·공공기관·협학회, 기타 단체 등 주최자, 전시장·컨벤션센터·호텔 등 행사장, PCO·PEO·DMC 등 대행사, 숙박·식음료·수송업체 등 서비스업, 컨벤션센터·관광마케팅 전담조직 등 DMO, 기타 MICE 행사 관련 기관과 기업 모두 참여할 수 있습니다.
국내에서 ISO20121은 2015년 롯데호텔, 대구컨벤션뷰로 등을 시작으로 인천아시아게임(2016년), 평창동계올림픽(2018년), 제주컨벤션뷰로(2021년), 한국관광공사(컨벤션뷰로), 인천관광공사(컨벤션뷰로), ICC 제주, 김대중컨벤션센터(이상 2022년)가 잇따라 인증을 획득했답니다
